Chapter 4.0 – Renaissance

I stepped across the bright, green lawn as the leaves beneath my feet crunched. The house that layed before my eyes was amazing. I felt as if I were a princess in a fairytale and what was ahead of me was my castle; my dream home. I still remember nine months ago when my parents gathered the whole family around the kitchen table and announced that I was going to be the heiress. That day, my mother seemed so much older, as if the lines on her face had created a permanent crease.

She spoke slowly, but I was able to hear the joy in her voice and as she said my name, my life was changed. “The fourth generation heiress will be…Ashley Smith!”

That was nine months ago, and during the past few months, my new home was being built. Contractors, landscapers, decorators and architects were walking in and out of the doors, creating what I called My Baby. As I observed this new house getting built, today seemed as if my first child was born. This is my life.

After all the hard work that was put into building this house, everything was finally completed. The new home incorporated a modern dining room and kitchen. A cozy living room, and of course a small guest room. On the second floor were 6 bedrooms, where one of those is my room; the master bedroom. Finally, the third floor contained the study.

First floor:

The second floor master bedroom:

The third floor study:

Mom absolutely loved the new home. She loved how everything had a new fresh smell to it and how she was the first to use everything. Every single piece of furniture was dust free; mom really liked that.

Mom would spend hours looking at the brand new paintings that were hung around the house. She liked the paintings, but she loved the expensive statues that sat around giving every room so much value.

While mom spent time at home admiring every piece of new furniture, I, was working hard at my job in the journalism career. When I first got the job a few years ago, my main goal was getting promoted. But now, I enjoyed doing my simple job of writing a Sunday post every week in the Sunset Valley newspaper. There was even a small room built-in the study that was being used as my office, this way whenever I had ideas for my posts, I can write them at home as well.

Aaron had fallen in love with the new home, so he sold his tiny condo, to come back home and live with his family. The main reason he came home, was because Mom begged him too, and after all he was always mommies’ little boy. I think that was Aaron’s biggest weakness; mom. With Aaron home, Andrew tried to keep him and Madison apart. Madison often came over and spent numerous amount of hours with Andrew. I tried to mind my own business, but then again I wasn’t blind. To me, it was obvious that Madison had a crush on Aaron. Wherever he was, she would look at him swiftly, and I even caught her blushing a few times. When he would work out, she purposely passed by him, walking back and forth and flashing slight smiles. I just hope it wasn’t anything serious.

The stars were covered by the clouds, and the moon had smoky figures floating by it. The night was dark, and the air had a cold frisk to it. Robin had brought Alessia to a small park nearby. They held hands as they walked through the foggy forest. They stopped to talk, and that’s when Alessia took matters into her own hands. She knelt down on one knee, and as she looked in the eyes of the one she loved, she pulled out a bright, diamond ring.

“Robin Jazy, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me?”

The next few minutes were filled with smiles, joy, love and laughter as the two were now engaged. They held each other and whispered words of love.

They were about to leave back home, when Robin suggested they get married right there, on the spot. With only a slight smirk and few gentle words, Alessia agreed to his proposition and they exchanged their vows. Robin gave Alessia his old yet valuable college ring and inserted it on her delicate finger. With one passionate kiss, they were now husband and wife.

Alessia came home late that night and was so excited to spread the news. I was in the other room when I heard her speaking to mom.

“It was perfect! With the mysterious fog, and the slight whispering, and the half-moon, and the floor filled with flowers…I loved it mom! Can you believe it! I’m married! I have a husband!”

I watched from the corner of my eye as I saw my mother let a tear stroll down her soft cheek. I joined my sister and mother and I immediately hugged Alessia. I was so happy for to finally see her reach a point of fulfillment.

I was happy for my sister, but that’s when I realized I wanted the total opposite of what she was getting. She had a quiet and private wedding, and I wanted to have a big celebration and show everyone how much I would love my fiancΓ©e.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe it was meant to be, but only two weeks later, I met a man named Laurence Pontillo. I was hiking in the mountains of Sunset Valley, and when I passed by a fishing lake, I saw him. I tried not to stare, but I could tell he was looking at me. I walked pass him, but suddenly my instincts took over as I yelled over at him, “Catch any fish?” I felt a sudden blush take over my face;I regretted saying those words.

Turns out Laurence was an extremely friendly fellow. He was so sweet and gentle when he spoke, I really felt as if he cared about the stories I told him.

Our simple walk around the pond, turned into a romantic dinner right outside the local bistro. He quickly mentioned how only three years ago he was married but had divorced, and that because of that incident, he had commitment issues. At first, I was bothered with that fact, but I quickly forgot it once I learned how interesting and intriguing his past life was.

Days turned into weeks, and it wasn’t long before Laurence invited me over to his home in the suburban. The second I walked into his home, I could tell he was a neat sim. Everything was perfectly into place and nothing had dust or stains. The curtains fell flawlessly in vertical lines. Even the plants seem to be shiny clean and perfectly arranged. Laurence guided me into his bedroom where, once again, I found everything was into place and folded just right. He laid me down onto the soft bed sheets and that was the first night I had ever made love.

During the next few weeks, Laurence and I hadn’t seen each other very much. I was busy writing for the newspaper, and he was off on a business trip with a few of his colleagues. While he was gone, it didn’t take long before I realized I was pregnant. The vomiting, the hunger, the back aches, the laziness, everything, was a sign of pregnancy. And once my baby bump started to show, I was so excited and thrilled to announce the news to Laurence.

Finally, he came back to Sunset Valley and I invited him over; I couldn’t wait to tell him about the baby. He stepped into the house and immediately hugged me. I had planned to tell him the news over supper, but now, I couldn’t wait any longer.

“Laurence, you’re never going to believe what happened!” He took a step back and looked at me, cocked his head and gave me a shy smile. “I’m pregnant!” As I said the words, my eyes were bulging out of my head, and a smile covered my face from ear to ear. I was so eager to become a mom! However, it only took a few seconds before I realized what was to come. While I was filled with joy and happiness, Laurence’s face contained the complete opposite. He took another step back and looked at me as if I had completely betrayed him.

“You have to be kidding me!? You know very well that I never wanted to have children! You knew as much as I did that we would never get married. I hate marriages! My last one was ruined to pieces and thank god I didn’t have a child. But of course you have to screw everything up between us! You ruin everything! We were so happy together but what do you think will happen with a baby between us! We’ll never have time for each other and we’ll always be cleaning dirty diapers and hearing eerie crying. I never asked for this and I’m not going to allow it!” He yelled as he spoke and I was able to see a vein bulging out his neck.

I tried to speak, but I only manage to stumble out a few words, “Bu…But why?”

“I hate you and I hate whatever you’re going to bring into this world. Both of you and that thing are useless.”

Those were his last words; I never saw him again. As he walked out of my house, my life, so many thoughts ran through my mind. I was so excited. My dreams were crushed in the matter of seconds. I was able to picture everything already, a perfect little family. Me, my husband, and our beautiful child that we would have raised. But now everything was over.

It took me a few days before an idea came rushing into my mind. As if a light bulb had finally clicked on and enlightened the darkness that seemed to surround me. There was no way I was going to let an old greedy man call my child a ‘thing’. I wanted to be a mother, and I was going to make this happen. With or without Laurence; most preferably without. I was going to raise this child alone and I would fulfill my dream of becoming a mother. However, I was wrong when I said I was alone to have this baby. My parents were there, my brothers, and my sisters were all there to support me. This child was going to be loved and I would protect this treasure for the rest of my life.

Hey! Thanks for the read and comment ! (: I’m glad you like the house, but personally I think I have to work more on the inside, I might modify it some time soon. I think I’m just as excited as you are for the baby! I wonder if it’s a boy or girl …
      Ashley doesn’t need a guy like Laurence ! πŸ˜‰

      Thanks,

  2. Laurence is a meanie!

That house is really nice! Did you build it?

    • xcin100x says:

      Hey!
I’m glad you like the house, and yes I have built it. I’m really happy with the outside, but I still have a little work to do in the inside. Laurence was definitely harsh on the situation. I think it was probably his Commitment Issues that brought up such anger. Maybe the Neat trait didn’t help either … Children can be a mess!

      Thank you for the comment!
